19.1 Stock Categories

The first step is to classify the stock in one of the six categories that Lynch has established,4 although companies may move from one category to another over time. Furthermore, companies have three growth phases and it is important to determine if the company in question is changing phase.

Firstly, there is the start-up phase, then the rapid expansion phase where the company is moving into new markets, and finally the mature (saturation) phase where growth becomes difficult. Here are the different categories.
